Cardinals lose third straight series after getting swept in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals couldn't seem to buy a hit in Sunday afternoon's series finale against the Phillies. STL got shut out by Philadelphia, 3-0, resulting in the club's third-straight series loss.

Aaron Nola was lethal on the hill for the Phillies. He pitched seven innings of one-hit baseball, all while collecting nine strikeouts. The Cardinals ended the day with just two hits altogether, courtesy of Tommy Edman and Paul Goldschmidt.

Red bird pitcher Drew Rom fell to 0-2 in 2023 in his Cardinal debut. He tossed for five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits.

Up next - the Cardinals will return home to host the Padres on Monday, Aug. 28. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.
