Goldschmidt powers the Cardinals to finale win over Mets to avoid series sweep

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals avoided the series sweep against the Mets on Sunday with a 7-3 win powered by a big day from Paul Goldschmidt.

Goldschmidt finished the outing 3-for-5 with three RBI's, including a two-run home run to take the lead in the fifth. In total, the St. Louis offense put together 15 total hits.

On the mound, Dakota Hudson threw five innings allowing just five hits on two earned runs while picking up seven strikeouts.

The Cardinals are now 55-70 on the year, 13 games out of first place in the NL Central division.

Up next - the Red Birds will hit the road to Pittsburgh for a divisional series with the Pirates. Game one of three will be Monday at 6:05 p.m.
