ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals didn't manage to close out the series on Thursday evening as a 5-3 loss against the Twins gives Minnesota the advantage.

Matthew Liberator is now 1-4 in his starts on the hill. On Thursday, he gave up five runs in six innings, including two two-run home runs in the second inning.

Alec Burleson was the Cardinals leading force at the plate going 3-for-4 with a solo homer. Dylan Carleson drove in the other two runs on the day.

With the loss, St. Louis is back at the bottom of the NL Central with a 48-61 record, including 4-6 in their last 10 outings.

Up next, the group stays at home for a three-game series with the Rockies. Game one is set for Friday at 7:15 p.m.
