Battle in search of new football coach, after Dubinski steps down
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football alum Jonah Dubinski has stepped down as the head football coach at Battle High School, according to Columbia Public Schools Athletics Director David Egan. The district will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.
CPS has posted the position online and will be utilizing the dead period over the next seven days to make a decision on who will take over the program. The Spartans are set to kick off the season at Park Hill on Friday, August 25.
Egan said that Dubinski left the program in order to pursue another opportunity that he couldn't pass up.
"We're grateful for his service to the Battle football program," Egan said. "He has done a great job of taking care of a number of administrative responsibilities in preparation for the start of the season. This will allow for a smooth transition to the next leader of the program."
Dubinski was hired in July of 2021, after previously working as an offensive line coach and offensive coordinator at Rock Bridge High School. In his two years with the Spartans, he went 8-13 overall, making it to the second game of playoff action each season.
Battle Athletics Director Sammie Symonds said that he will be missed by many. She added that Battle is now taking applications and will plan on choosing the new coach during the dead week, as mentioned by Egan.
