KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City offense was stagnant in the series finale against Detroit on Thursday afternoon. Tigers' pitcher Michael Lorenzen threw seven innings of three-hit baseball on the club's way to a 3-0 win against KC.

The Royals finished with four hits, total, through the loss. Maikel Garcia, Kyle Isbel, MJ Melendez and Edward Olivares were the only hitters to connect on pitches and it wasn't near enough, as Kansas City got shutout. With the loss, KC lost the series 3-1.

Pitcher Zach Greinke did not have a banner day on the hill. He tossed for four innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and registered just one strikeout. Greinke fell to 1-10 on the season with Thursday's loss.

Since the All-Star break skipper Matt Quatraro and company have gone 2-5, losing two-straight series against the Rays and the Tigers.

Up next - Kansas City will hit the road to meet the Yankees on Friday, July 21. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
