Drinkwitz and players name Tigers to watch in 2023
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz brought a veteran group to SEC Media Days in Nashville, but a lot of the experienced guys wanted to shout out other upcoming stars that have shined in summer camp.
"Armand Membou, he’s going to be very special. He’s going to be sitting here one day," said defensive lineman Darius Robinson.
Robinson also made it a point to give credit to the work that Jaylon Carlies, Johnny Walker and Mookie Cooper have put in during the last few months.
"Shamar McNeil, I feel like he’s the future of Mizzou," said defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine.
Abrams-Draine will work alongside Ennis Rakestraw as arguably one of the best defensive back duos in college football. Coach Drink said Rakestraw has shown some dedication in the offseason.
"Ennis Rakestraw weighed in at 193 pounds on Friday and is a guy that’s doing everything right," Drinkwitz said.
In the shout outs, Drinkwitz announced the answer to the question that was on everyone's mind. "Brady Cook will step out there with the ones, there’s very little doubt about that," Drinkwitz said when talking about fall camp.
Quarterback isn't the only competitive group. As a guy who gets to go up against the wide receivers every day, Abrams-Draine says the room is overflowing with talent.
"There’s so many good receivers, I don’t know how they’re going to do it because I feel like all of them could go anywhere and start right now," Abrams-Draine said.
