CLEVELAND, Ohio. (KMIZ)

Former Mizzou pitcher Rorik Maltrud agreed to an undrafted free agent deal with the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. The deal made him the fifth Tiger to find his way to the pros in 2023.

Maltrud came to Mizzou as a transfer from New Mexico State in 2023. In his one season in Columbia, he recorded a 5.73 ERA with a 1-2 record. He struck out 65 batters through more than 48 innings pitched.

Before his time as a Tiger, he played two seasons at New Mexico State. In his redshirt junior season, he made six appearances and received the starting nod in five games. He finished 2022 with a 4.11 ERA giving up 15 runs on the year. He allowed 24 hits on 121 batters faced.

He played for Grayson College from 2019-20.
