Mizzou pitcher drafted by White Sox in 10th round of MLB Draft

CHICAGO, Ill. (KMIZ)

Former Mizzou pitcher Zach Franklin got drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 2023 MLB Draft on Monday. The righty went with the No. 299 overall pick in the 10th round.

Franklin came to Columbia as a sixth-year transfer from Western Carolina. In his Tiger career, he tallied 59 strikeouts over nearly 39 innings pitched. He had a 6-3 record and a 7.45 ERA, as well, in 2023.

Before coming to Columbia, he finished second on his WCU squad with 70 strikeouts, which ranked just outside the top 10 in the conference. He finished 2022 with a 5-1 record and three saves.
