Mizzou football bringing one offensive and two defensive players to SEC Media Days
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
SEC Football Media Days is set to kick off on Monday, July 17 in Nashville, Tenn. Mizzou football will be the second team to speak that day, as the Southeastern Conference announced that the Tigers will be bringing defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine, defensive lineman Darius Robinson and offensive lineman Javon Foster to the annual event.
Head coach Eli Drinkwitz will lead the group in his fourth talkin' time, as the MU head coach.
There are high expectations for Robinson, as he will return for his fifth and final season in 2023. Robinson did wrestle with the idea of heading to the NFL, but decided against it in January. His return was big for defensive coordinator Blake Baker, as the DL recorded 35 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 2022.
Through his entire Mizzou career, Robinson has 69 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in 31 career games played.
Abrams-Draine also decided to return for one more year in 2023, after debating going to the league, as well. The Alabama-native was a part of one of the best cornerback duos in the nation in 2022, playing opposite of Ennis Rakestraw. The two combined for 82 tackles in that season.
Heading into 2023, Abrams-Draine was a part of a big group of veteran defensive returners. During spring camp, the group said their goal was to be the best defense in the nation.
Offensively, Coach Drinkwitz is bringing offensive lineman Javon Foster to SEC Media Days. He is also returning for his fifth and final season in the black and gold in 2023. He's started in every game for the last two seasons and will bring much-needed leadership to the offensive line.
