Former Mizzou pitcher, Fatima alum drafted to the New York Mets

NEW YORK, N.Y. (KMIZ)

Former Mizzou pitcher and Fatima alum Austin Troesser is going to the next level. The New York Mets drafted Troesser with the No. 135 overall pick on Monday.

The 21-year-old played for the Tigers for three seasons, after graduating from Fatima High School. He finished his MU career with a 4.98 ERA and an 8-5 record. In his final season, as a junior, he struck out 53 batters over about 45 innings.

Troesser had entered the transfer portal at the end of his junior season, after former head coach Steve Bieser got fired.

Before his time at Mizzou, the Missouri-native won a state championship with the Fatima Comets in 2018. In that game, he went the distance for his team, as he had six strikeouts and allowed just on earned run on five hits in the victory.
