Mizzou announces men’s golf coach’s resignation
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou men's golf will be searching for a new head coach ahead of the 2023-24 season. MU Athletics announced that head coach Mark Hankins resigned, on Sunday.
Just minutes after MU's announcement USC announced that it has hired Hankins' as their new head coach.
In a press release, Athletics Director Desiree Reed-Francois thanked Hankins for his service to the Tigers and wished him well in the future.
"We have one of the best coaching jobs in the country. Our golf program is on the rise: Old Hawthorne is a phenomenal home facility and we are surrounded by a strong golf community in Columbia and Mid-Missouri. We will work quickly to find a coach who is the best fit to continue building our championship culture," she said.
Hankins was set to take over as head coach, following former, longtime head coach Mark Leroux's retirement on July 1, 2023. Mizzou earned a bid to the NCAA Championship regional round and advanced to the SEC Tournament quarterfinals in 2022 and 2023.
