Former Mizzou baseball coach Steve Bieser landed a new head coaching job about a month after being let go from the University of Missouri. Bieser is the new head coach at Jacksonville State University, the program announced on Saturday.

Bieser spent the past seven years at the helm of Tiger baseball. He went 188-155-1 overall in his time in Columbia. His first three seasons were by far the most successful, as he racked up 104 wins, which was thee most-ever by an MU head coach.

MU Athletics decided to move on from Bieser, after Mizzou posted a 10-20 mark in conference play in 2023. The group made its first SEC Tournament since 2019, however, bowed out in the first round following a seven-run loss to Auburn.

In a press release, Bieser said he is looking forward to taking over a Jacksonville State program that has shown 53 years of excellence.

"During the past 13 years, I have been able to get to know Coach Case very well, and the respect I have for him and the consistency of excellence he has shown over the years at JSU made me very excited about this opportunity," Bieser said in that press release. "When Coach Case announced his retirement, I knew this was a place I wanted to pursue and am ready to continue building on this storied program and to bring Championships and develop Champions for life."

Bieser first came to Mizzou in 2017, after the Tigers had had just two winnings seasons over six years. Six out of his seven seasons in Columbia ended above the .500 mark, including a 35-win season in his debut year. However, the Tigers struggled to get into postseason contention, as the program's last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2012.

Before coaching at Mizzou, Bieser was the head baseball coach at Southeast Missouri State University, his alma mater, in Cape Girardeau. He led the program for four out of the seven years he worked with the Redhawks.

Bieser also played in the major leagues, after being drafted by Philadelphia in 1989. He spent 13 seasons in the MLB and eight more as an associate scout for the Phillies.
