Mizzou’s D’Moi Hodge signs with Lakers
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KMIZ)
Mizzou hoops alum D'Moi Hodge signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, directly following the NBA Draft.
The 24-year-old only spent one season in Columbia, as he followed head coach Dennis Gates to MU from Cleveland State. However, in that one year he made quite an impact. He was one of two players to start in all 35 games through the 2022-23 season.
He earned top national and SEC rankings in multiple categories, including steals per game (2.60), triples per gam (2.86) and 3-point percentage (40 percent), which actually led the conference. Hodge's 91 total steals in his graduate year set a new program record, blowing out the old one by 15, and also ranked sixth in SEC history.
Hodge also connected on 100 triples throughout the year, which made him the fifth player in MU history to do so. Thanks to that lethal 3-point shooting, Hodge scored into double figures in 28-of-35 games with seven of those surpassing 20 points.
He was a crucial part of then-first year head coach Gates' first season in Columbia, where the team more than doubled the win total from the previous season and won the program's first NCAA Tournament game in 13 years.
