Cardinals win four of last six before trip across the pond; fell in final game against Nationals

WASHINGTON D.C. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals missed out on a sweep against the Washington Nationals in a 3-0 loss on Wednesday afternoon, but the club still managed to win four out of its last six games to win two series straight.

The four wins came right before the birds will make a trip across the pond to meet the rival Cubs in London on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25.

The Cardinal bats never got going in the shutout loss in the final game of the series in D.C. The Nationals out-hit St. Louis 10-7, as the Cards went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Pitcher Miles Mikolas is handed the loss, despite a solid showing. He did allow two runs in the fifth and sixth inning, but he made it the distance with a seven-inning outing, where he tossed three strikeouts. After Wednesday, he fell to 4-5 on the season.

Up next - St. Louis will have two days off, as the club travels to London for a two-game series against Chicago at London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Park. First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. CT on Saturday.
