Angels stars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout proved too much for Royals pitcher Zack Greinke in the series rubber match on Sunday afternoon. Home runs from the L.A. duo pushed the club past Kansas City, 5-2.

Greinke fell to 1-7 in 2023 with the loss. He threw for five innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits, along with four strikeouts.

Just one day after walking off the Angels in game two of the series, Kansas City gave itself a chance, once again. KC had the lead in the second inning courtesy of a Freddy Fermin RBI single. Although the Royals allowed L.A. to tie up the ball game, Samad Taylor responded in the fourth with an RBI single of his own to take a 2-1 lead.

The fifth inning changed the momentum of the game though, as both Ohtani and Trout homered to take a two-run lead. Jared Walsh added on a home run of his own in the ninth to cement the series win.

With Sunday's loss, Kansas City fell to 19-52 overall in 2023.

Up next - the Royals will hit the road to meet Detroit on Monday, June 19. First pitch is slated for 5:40 p.m.
