KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals announced that first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino will likely miss the remainder of the 2023 season, as he will need surgery on his right shoulder. The news comes after the 25-year-old's MRI on Monday.

The infielder will get surgery to repair a torn labrum in the coming days. He first went out after experiencing 'discomfort' in Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Pasquantino was hitting .247 with nine home runs and 26 RBI in his sophomore season.
