Kansas City gets swept in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. (KMIZ)

The Kanas City Royals got swept by the Miami Marlins in the club's second-straight 6-1 loss, on Wednesday night. With the loss, KC is now 3-9 through the last 12 games.

Kansas City got on the board first, courtesy of a Nick Pratto RBI single, however, the offense ended there.

Jesus Sanchez was the hero for the Marlins. He hit a home run, singled twice and had four RBI in the win. The sweep for Miami also marks the club's second-straight sweep against both the Oakland A's and the Royals.

Jordan Lyles is handed the loss on the bump for KC. He went seven innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits, with just two strikeouts.

Kansas City is now 13 games out of first place in the American League Central standings. In his first season, skipper Matt Quatraro sits at 18-44, overall.

Up next - Kansas City will hit the road, again, to meet the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch on Friday, June 9 is set for 6:05 p.m.
