KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals avoided taking what would have been the club's sixth sweep of the season with a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.

Pitcher Brady Singer had a standout day on the bump in the shutout win. He threw for a little more than five innings, allowing no runs on five hits, along with seven strikeouts.

Reliever Scott Barlow was awarded the save thanks to his one inning of work. He had three strikeouts to secure the KC win.

Michael Massey and Maikel Garcia drove in the Royals' two runs. Massey hit an RBI single in the fifth inning and Garcia lifted up a 414-foot solo home run in the eighth.

Up next - Kansas City will hit the road and meet the Miami Marlins on Monday, June 5. First pitch is set for 5:40 p.m.
