Former Mizzou standout Markus Golden signs with the Steelers

Former Mizzou football standout Markus Golden signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday. The veteran edge rusher will work behind starters T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.

The 32-year-old has been in the NFL for nine years and has spent seven of those years with the Arizona Cardinals. He started in 14 games for Arizona in 2022 and tallied 45 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He had a standout year in 2021 when he went off for 11 sacks in one season.

Golden was drafted by the Cardinals in 2015, after three years at Mizzou. In his time in the black and gold, he recorded about 32 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and a pick-six. Golden was also a Second-Team All-SEC selection in 2014 and earned the Citrus Bowl MVP in 2015.
