Gary Pinkel holds fifth annual charity golf tournament for GP M.A.D.E. Foundation
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Former Mizzou football coach and hall of famer Gary Pinkel hosted his fifth annual charity golf tournament for his GP M.A.D.E. foundation at the Club at the Old Hawthorne on Monday afternoon.
Pinkel says when he retired he missed helping his players, so he created the foundation to help kids across the state. He says the annual golf tournament is a huge fundraiser and they're excited about how much the foundation has grown in the last five years.
"We've pulled in thousands and thousands of dollars to help kids that come from difficult backgrounds, kids that have cancer, kids that have physical challenges," Pinkel said. "I want to get bigger and better, it's just like when you win when I was coaching, you know, you want to win more games and so that's what we're trying to do."

Pinkel has had a stellar career coaching and as that relates to his work off the field, he hopes people continue to show trust in what he's building.
"I think people trust, hopefully they trust, that when I'm doing something, I'm going to do it the right way and they know the love that I have for my players that really this is spilling over to help other kids," Pinkel said. "I think we got 61 scholarships out in four years and those are kids that need the financial aid so that they can be successful."
In the past year, Pinkel has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, the SEC Hall of Fame and most recently the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.
"This isn't about Gary Pinkel, and this is the truth, it's about my coaches, my players around me and the medical staff. I accept these awards for all these people that are apart of it," Pinkel said.
