Mizzou softball falls to No. 1 Oklahoma in Norman Regional; Tigers head to elimination game

NORMAN, Ok. (KMIZ)

After winning the opening round of the NCAA Norman Regional, the Mizzou softball team fell 11-0 Saturday against the defending national champions No. 1 Oklahoma. Now, the Tigers will move to the elimination game against the winner of Cal and Hofstra at 7:30 p.m.

The Sooners put the game away in six innings putting together 11 hits compared to just one from MU. The sole hit for the Tigers came from Jefferson City's own Kara Daly. Oklahoma pitcher Jordy Bahl recorded seven strikeouts in her five innings pitched.

In the circle for Mizzou, Lauren Krings got the start allowing six runs in four innings pitched. Megan Schumacher gave up three and Emma Nichols allowed one more score to come in.

With the loss, Mizzou now heads to the elimination game later Saturday evening against the winner of Cal and Hofstra at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers defeated Cal 5-1 in Friday's opening round.
