MILWAUKEE, Wis. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals could not Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich in the weekend series up in Milwaukee, as KC took a series sweep on Sunday, 9-6.

Yelich homered for the second-straight game in the first inning and scored in the third as a part of the Brewers' seven-run surge. The outfielder homered twice on Saturday and went 2-for-4 with a solo shot and an RBI single in the finale.

The Kansas City offense looked solid early, as catcher Salvador Perez homered for his second-straight game, as well. Bobby Witt Jr. and Hunter Dozier, both, also went deep in the ninth inning, which put KC within three runs, but the effort was not enough.

Jordan Lyles earned the loss on the hill. He went about two innings and allowed seven runs on four hits, with just two strikeouts.

With Sunday's loss, the Royals fell to 12-30 overall in 2023.

Up next - Kansas City will continue the road trip and head out to San Diego to meet the Padres. First pitch on Monday, May 15 is at 8:40 p.m.
