Mizzou routs Georgia in series opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The bats of Luke Mann and Ross Lovich lifted Mizzou to a series-opening win against Georgia at Taylor Stadium on Friday night. The Tigers downed the Bulldogs in run rule fashion, 13-3.

Mann came into Friday's game just four home runs away from tying MU's all-time home run record. After a two home run outing against the Bulldogs, Mann just needs two more home runs to tie for first and three more to claim it all for himself.

His teammate Ross Lovich also had himself a night at the dish. He hit for the cycle, laying down a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the run rule win. He went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI.

Chandler Murphy earned the win on the hill for Mizzou. He went five innings with four strikeouts and just two runs allowed on four hits. He improved to 4-4 overall in 2023.

Up next - Mizzou will look to secure the series win against Georgia on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. Head coach Steve Bieser and company will honor 10 seniors, on senior day, 30 minutes before the start of the game.
