Mizzou softball tops Mississippi State; moving to day two of SEC Tournament

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No. 13-seeded Mizzou topped the No. 12 seed, Mississippi State, in the first round of the 2023 SEC Tournament on Tuesday evening, 3-1. The win will move the Tigers further into the first round of action.

MU will meet No. 5-seeded Alabama on Wednesday evening. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. CT in Fayetteville, Ark.

Mizzou pitcher Laurin Krings kept up her standout season with her ninth complete game of her season. She went the full seven innings with three strikeouts and one run allowed on two hits.

Head coach Larissa Anderson's offense was led by Alex Honnold, Jefferson City alum Kara Daly and Rock Bridge alum Maddie Snider, who each registered an RBI in the win.

After Mizzou's final regular season series, players said they wanted to "crash some parties," in post season play. The group got that run started on Tuesday night.
