No. 12 Arkansas run-rules Mizzou in series opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team dropped the senior weekend series opener to No. 12 Arkansas on Friday night in run rule fashion. The Razorbacks took home the 9-0 win.

Senior Jordan Weber got the start for MU in the circle, but was pulled after two innings of work. She allowed one earned run on four hits with no strikeouts. Fellow senior, Megan Schumacher took over for her on the rubber, tallying two strikeouts and six runs allowed on eight hits. Finally, one last senior got in the pitching rotation on Friday, as Emma Nichols took care of the last part of the game for Mizzou.

The Tigers finished with just two hits in the loss, both coming from veteran Alex Honnold.

Arkansas pitcher Chenise Delce recorded five strikeouts in a complete game shutout.

Up next - Mizzou and No. 12 Arkansas will meet again on Saturday at 4 p.m., as MU will look to even up the series. The Tigers will honor their seniors after the game.
