Columbia College secures sixth-straight AMC Championship in walk-off win

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

For the sixth-straight time, the Columbia College softball team secured an AMC Championship with a 1-0, walk-off win on Friday afternoon.

The title game was a pitchers' duel from start to finish. The Cougars' Ella Schouten finished with 12 strikeouts on the day and no runs allowed on just four hits. The championship win capped off a stellar tournament for the Rock Bridge alum. She had 40-total K's through tournament action.

Hickman alum Athena Wheeler played hero in the seventh inning. With a full count and one out, she unloaded for a solo home run.

Up next - Columbia College will await placement in the NAIA Tournament.
