Mizzou hoops guard announces plans to return for one more season

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team still has its point guard. Nick Honor announced that he will be returning to Columbia for another season on Saturday night.

Honor transferred to MU from Clemson last season and was a part of a historic Tiger team, in head coach Dennis Gates' first season at the helm. The group made it to the program's first-ever SEC Tournament semifinal and won the team's first NCAA Tournament game in more than 10 years.

The 5-foot-10 guard is known for ball security. In more than 1,000 minutes of playing time, Honor turned the ball over just 33 times in 2022, all while handing out 103 assists. His assist-to-turnover ratio tied for 14th-best in the nation.

Mizzou fans saw some growth from the Orlando-native in his first year in a Tiger uniform. Gates said he needed to be more selfish and take shots. He did that when he hit a game winner in overtime against Mississippi State.

Honor joins forward Noah Carter in Tiger seniors that have announced plans to return next season.
