Chiefs pick up wide receiver with No. 55 overall pick

The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to pick up another target for MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Friday night. SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice is officially a Chief.

KC traded away picks No. 63, No. 122 and No. 249. The Chiefs gained pick No. 55, which was used for Rice, and No. 194. Kansas City will still have three sixth round picks.

In his final season with the Mustangs, Rice started in all 12 games. He led the FBS in receiving yards per game with about 112. His 1,355 receiving yards and eight receptions per game were top five in the nation. The wide receiver ranked No. 13 nationally with 10 receiving touchdowns on the season and posted six 100-yard games in 2022.

Rice is the first Group of Five player to be drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft.
