KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Chiefs ended the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft with a hometown pick. In downtown KC on Thursday night, the Chiefs selected Kansas City's own Felix Anudike-Ozomah with the No. 31 overall pick.

The defensive end will joins the reigning Super Bowl champs after spending three, standout years at Kansas State. He ended his collegiate career tied for sixth in sacks in Kansas State history, with 20.5.

The selection is a dream come true for the KC-native. Anudike-Ozomah grew up a Chiefs fan in Lee's Summit, attending Lee's Summit High School.

General Manager Brett Veach said that Kansas City had opportunties to trade up and down with that No. 31 overall pick, however, he said he knew who they wanted.
