Mizzou completes the sweep against North Texas in standout weekend for Laurin Krings

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team clinched its first series win of the season on Saturday and capped it off with a sweep, thanks to a 5-0 win, on Sunday.

Pitcher Laurin Krings was the highlight of the weekend for MU. She tossed 26 total strikeouts in two games against the Mean Green of North Texas. After completing a 17-strikeout no-hitter on Friday, she followed up the performance with a complete-game shutout on Sunday. She had nine strikeouts and no runs allowed on three hits in the finale.

The Tiger offense got going on Sunday, as well. Alex Honnold, Kara Daly, Julia Crenshaw and Maddie Gallagher all tallied RBI in the win. Honnold did so by knocking out her 11th home run of the season.

Up next - head coach Larissa Anderson and company will host SIUE on Tuesday, April 25 at the Mizzou Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
