KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Royals pitcher Kris Bubic will miss the remainder of the 2023 season, after the team announced he will undergo Tommy John surgery on Friday. Kansas City said Bubic was evaluated by multiple doctors before deciding on surgery.

Bubic was, originally, placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday, after leaving with a strain in KC's game against the Braves. In that game, he gave up five runs on 10 hits.

The 25-year-old wasn't off to the best start in 2023. He was 0-2 on the year with a 4.85 ERA through three starts.
