Royals score late to avoid shut out; Blue Jays win three straight taking series 3-1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals fell to the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in a four-game series. After KC claimed its first win of the year in the series opener, the group lost three straight to end the matchup.

In the final game on Thursday, Toronto won 6-3 with the Royals not managing to put a run on the board until the bottom of the eighth inning.

Bobby Witt Jr. started off the scoring with a solo homer following by runs brought in by Vinnie Pasquantino and Edward Olivares.

Jordan Lyles started the day on the rubber giving up five runs on eight hits and recording nine strikeouts in a little over five innings. Jose Cuas pitched two innings allowing three hits and one run, plus Scott Barlow closed out the ninth now allowing any hits.

The Royals sit at 1-5 on the year and will now head of their first road trip of the season. Kansas City heads to San Francisco for a three-game series with the Giants starting Friday at 3:35 p.m.
