No. 21 Auburn completes sweep against Mizzou softball

AUBURN, Ala. (KMIZ)

Despite a standout performance from pitcher Laurin Krings in the circle, Mizzou could not not hold off a sweep from No. 21 Auburn on Monday night. MU fell 2-1, in a walk off win for Auburn.

Freshman Cierra Harrison started the game in the circle for head coach Larissa Anderson, but after getting into a jam in the first inning, Krings came in. She allowed just one run on five hits and tallied seven strikeouts. It's the eighth time in the 2023 season that the pitcher has surpassed five strikeouts.

Texas Tech transfer Payton Jackson had the lone run for the Tigers, which came off of her first home run with the program.

Up next - Mizzou will return home for a midweek match up with Northern Iowa on Wednesday. Then, MU will host No. 16 Alabama in a three-game series.
