Rock Bridge girls punch ticket to state championship game

The Rock Bridge girls are headed to the Class 6 state championship game after a 50-33 win Friday over Eureka in the semifinals.

The Bruins went into the half down by three, but an 18-4 third quarter provided the difference.

The young group was led by sophomore Mari Miller with a team high 16 points and freshman Jayda Porter with a double-double performance, 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bella Corrado also added 12 points.

Defense was a huge part of the Bruins success holding a good-shooting Eureka team to just one three-pointer in the contest and not allowing a single player to reach double-digits.

The last time the Bruins won the state championship was in the 2014-15 season against Liberty.

Rock Bridge will play in the state championship at Great Southern Bank Arena Saturday at 4 p.m. against the back-to-back state champions Incarnate Word Academy that are a perfect 31-0 on the season.
