Tolton boys fall to Vashon in Class 4 semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Father Tolton boy's basketball team fell in the Class 4 state semifinals 49-45 to Vashon on Thursday at Great Southern Bank Arena.

This marks the second-straight season that the Trailblazers have fell to the Wolverines in the state tournament with Vashon knocking them off in last year's state championship game.

In Thursday's matchup, Tolton gave up 20 first quarter points, but managed to battle back in the second to go into the locker room down 30-27. Scoring in the second half was decided by just one point.

Tolton was led by sophomore Zay Wilson with 18 points following by senior James Lee with 14 points and eight rebounds. Illinois State commit Kennard Davis led Vashon with 20 points and seven boards in the win.

With the loss, Tolton is now 22-9 on the year. Up next, the team will battle for third place in the Class 4 tournament Friday at 10 a.m. against Lafayette.
