Mizzou’s in-state third baseman selected to Preseason All-SEC First Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

St. Louis native and Mizzou senior third baseman Luke Mann was named to the 2023 Preseason All-SEC Baseball First Team on Thursday.

Mann is coming off a breakthrough 2022 season totaling 17 home runs, which was the most by any Tiger since 2004.

The fifth-year Tiger also scored 48 runs and drove home 43 more—both of which were the second-highest totals on the team. Mann slugged a team-best .595 for the season and ranked second among all SEC batters with his 15 homers in conference play.

Mann becomes the first Tiger to earn preseason All-SEC honors of any kind since Kameron Misner was a second-team choice in 2018.

Mizzou will open its 2023 season with some Big 12 foes as part of the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Tigers will start the season against No. 9 Oklahoma State on Feb. 17.
