Sharp shooting leads Mizzou MBB to a win over LSU

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team hit 13 3-pointers in the win against LSU on Wednesday night. The 87-77 win snapped MU's eight-game losing streak in the series against the other Tigers.

11 of the Tigers' 13 total 3-pointers came in the first half of play. More than that, five of those first half three's came from one player: Kobe Brown. Brown finished the night with 26 points going 10-11 from the field and 5-6 from beyond the arc. He added on eight boards and five assists through 36 minutes of play.

Three players hit double-digit scoring tonight. Noah Carter and DeAndre Gholston tied for 14 points and Rock Bridge alum Isiaih Mosley racked up 12 points of his own.

Mizzou shot better than 55 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range. More importantly to head coach Dennis Gates, however, the home Tigers finished with a positive assist to turnover ratio. MU had 26 assists to just 10 turnovers.

With the win, Gates and company improved to 17-6 overall and 5-4 in SEC play.

Next up - Mizzou will hit the road to face Mississippi State on Saturday, Feb. 4. Tip off is at 5 p.m.
