Mizzou women’s basketball suffers sixth straight SEC loss at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team is still trying to work its way through a rough patch taking its sixth straight loss Sunday 77-54 at Kentucky.

Mizzou won the first meeting between the two teams on Dec. 29 at Mizzou Arena 74-71.

The Tigers struggled out of the gate scoring just nine points in the first quarter. At the half, MU trailed by 19 points and the biggest issue was the 19 first half turnovers.

Mizzou finished with a season-high 22 turnovers, which resulting in 28 points for the Wildcats.

Hayley Frank was the only Tiger that finished the game in double-figures with 21 points and five rebounds. Lauren Hansen added nine points and five boards.

As a team, the group shot 37% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc compared to Kentucky shooting 52% from the field and 53% from three.

The Wildcats were led by Jada Walker with 18 points an five assists, plus had three other players reach double-digit scoring.

With the loss, Mizzou falls to 14-8 on the season and 3-6 in conference play.

Up next - Mizzou will return home Thursday to take on Vanderbilt at 8 p.m.
