KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

According to NFL Network insiders, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in Saturday's win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury sidelined Mahomes for the second quarter, but he did finish out Saturday's game after getting evaluated in the locker room.

The injury happened when two Jaguars defenders, Arden Key and Corey Peters, took Mahomes after he had thrown the ball. After his leg got rolled up, he limped to the sideline.

Mahomes did finish out that drive, which ended in a field goal. However, head coach Andy Reid made him go to the locker room to get X-Ray's. He returned in the second half and finished with 195 yards and two touchdowns.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported the news of the high ankle sprain on Sunday morning. He added that Mahomes expects to be good to go for the AFC Championship on Jan. 29.
