No. 1 South Carolina avenges the 2021-22 upset; takes down Mizzou WBB

COLUMBIA, S.C. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team could not duplicate last season's upset over No. 1 South Carolina over in Columbia East on Sunday afternoon. The Gamecocks beat the Tigers, 81-50.

The reigning National Player of the Year Aliyah Boston took over the game at Colonial Life Arena. She finished with an impressive stat line: 20 points and 10 rebounds in her 11th double-double this season, along with two blocks. Boston's performance was followed up by Zia Cooke, who racked up 16 points.

South Carolina beat Mizzou on the boards, as well. The Gamecocks had 52 total rebounds to MU's 22 .

Lauren Hansen was the main attacker for the Tigers on Sunday. She had 14 points in the loss. The next closest scorer was Hayley Frank with nine points, as Mizzou shot 33 percent from the field.

With the loss, head coach Robin Pingeton and company are now 14-5 on the season and 3-3 in SEC play.

Up next - Mizzou will return home to host Tennessee on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m.
