Mizzou MBB holds steady at No. 20 in AP Top-25
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
After splitting the week with Arkansas and Vanderbilt, the Mizzou men's basketball team held strong at No. 20 in this week's AP Top-25 Poll.
The Tigers' loss to the then-No. 13 Razorbacks marked their first defeat in SEC play. Head coach Dennis Gates and company lost 74-68 in front of a sellout crowd at Bud Walton Arena, despite getting out to a big lead in the first half. However, the loss did mark improvement, as just one year ago Mizzou lost to the Hogs by 44 points.
The Razorbacks dropped two spots in the AP Poll, despite the win over Mizzou. The Hogs are now ranked No. 15 in the nation, due to a 13-point loss to Auburn.
MU returned home to host Vanderbilt on Saturday and the Commodores took the Tigers down to the wire. Gates' group struggles, offensively, to start the game, but standout shooting performances from Kobe Brown, DeAndre Gholston and D'Moi Hodge lifted them to an 85-82 win.
Mizzou will hit the road for week 10. The Tigers will first travel to College Station to meet Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Then, the team will make the trip to Gainesville to meet the Gators at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
