Jeremy Maclin named to 2023 College Football Hall of Fame Class
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The National Football Foundation announced that former Mizzou wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2023. He is the eighth Tiger football alum to enter the Hall.
Maclin will be joining the Hall of Fame just one year after his former coach, Gary Pinkel, was inducted, in 2022.
The Kirkwood, Missouri-native played at Mizzou from 2006 to 2008. In that time, he became one of the most prolific players in Tiger football history. He is still the only MU player to be named a two-time First Team All-American. He also still holds the NCAA record for all-purpose yards as a freshman, with 198.3 yards per game in 2007.
Maclin finished his time in Columbia with a 22-6 overall record and a long list of accolades. His teams won two-consecutive bowl games, in both the Cotton Bowl and the Alamo Bowl. He broke program records for all-purpose yards in a career, single season and single game. To this day, he still holds the top two single-season all-purpose yard performances in school history, as well as holding nine of the top 20 single-game all-purpose yard performances in Mizzou history.
He ended his Tiger career with 182 career receptions for 2,135 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was also a threat on the ground, adding on 91 career rushes for 688 yards and three touchdowns.
As far as special teams goes, Maclin tacked on 48 career punt returns for 577 yards and three touchdowns. He also fielded kickoffs for MU, returning for 2,049 yards and two touchdowns.
After his time in Columbia, he was drafted in the first round with the 19th pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Pro Bowler played in Philadelphia until 2014. He also played for Kansas City from 2015-16 and Baltimore in 2017.
He retired from the NFL and began his coaching career in his hometown of Kirkwood. He still coaches his alma mater, while also giving back with his own charitable foundation.
Maclin will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Las Vegas on Dec. 5, 2023.
