No. 9 Mizzou gymnastics returns to the mat with a win at Illinois

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No. 9 Mizzou gymnastics kicked off the 2023 season with a win over No. 23 Illinois 196.425-196.275.

The Tigers were led by a big day from senior Helen Hu with a team-high on both the beam and bar. Hu finished with a 9.950 on the beam and a 9.925 on the bar.

Senior Sienna Schreiber also co-led the team on the beam with a 9.950. Jocelyn Moore led the Tigers on the vault with a 9.900 and Alisa Shermeta added a 9.900 on the floor.

Up next - Mizzou will have its home opener Friday against Georgia. The match will be at the Hearnes Center at 6 p.m.
