Insane DeAndre Gholston buzzer beater secures win against UCF

SUNRISE, Fl. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team got back in the win column Saturday afternoon in the Orange Bowl Classic with a 68-66 win over UCF on a buzzer beater from DeAndre Gholston.

The Tigers got down early 10-0, but Nick Honor helped power them back with five first-half threes to go into the locker room down by one. As a team, MU finished with 13 three-pointers on the day shooting 52%.

Out of the locker room, the Knights couldn't get anything going missing the first nine shots of the second half. On the other hand, Mizzou's shots were falling scoring nine unanswered points, seven of which came from Gholston.

This game came down to the wire with UCF taking the lead by one by :40 to play and Gholston closed it out with a deep three at the buzzer.

Honor finished the day as the team's leading scorer with 17 points. Gholston finished with 16 and D'Moi Hodge added 15.

After not playing at all in the Border Showdown, Rock Bridge Alum, Isiaih Mosley played 10 minutes in Florida leading the team with four assists.

The Tigers defense came up big in putting some solid runs together forcing 15 turnovers resulting in 18 points. Hodge led the team with three steals.

Up next - Mizzou will have another neutral site game for the Braggin' Rights matchup with Illinois Thursday at the Enterprise Center at 8 p.m.
