DENVER, Colo. (KMIZ)

The three-win Denver Broncos nearly completed a second half comeback against Kansas City on Sunday, but the Chiefs held on for a 34-28 win at Mile High Stadium.

Two offensive and one defensive touchdown in the first half, put KC up by 27 points near the end of the second quarter. However, with less than two minutes in the half, Denver managed to score twice to make cut their deficit to 13 points.

In the second half, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson threw a 66-yard touchdown pass right out of the gates to put his team behind just 27-21. Patrick Mahomes and company managed to respond near the end of the third quarter with a touchdown, but Denver kept it close until the very end with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

In the end, the Chiefs defense held up just enough for the win. The defense picked up six sacks in the game and had a pick-six, but did allow Wilson and company to score more points than they have all season.

On a bright note, tight end Travis Kelce became just the fifth tight end in NFL history to surpass 10,000 receiving yards with a catch in the first quarter.

Mahomes finished the afternoon in Denver with more than 350 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions.

Up next - Kansas City will stay on the road to meet the Texans on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 12:00 p.m.
