Mizzou WBB cruises to win against Omaha to improve to 10-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team got to give their starters a bit of a break in a dominant win against Nebraska-Omaha on Friday morning, as the Tigers coasted to an 83-36 win over the Mavericks.

With veterans like forward Hayley Frank, guard Mama Dembele and guard Haley Troup all playing less than 20 minutes in the victory, other players earned some solid minutes. It was a big day, specifically, for Mid-Missouri's local talent.

Jefferson City native Sarah Linthacum earned her second-straight start for the Tigers. Micah Linthacum, her sister, had a breakout game offensively against Omaha. The junior finished with a career-high 12 points on perfect, 5-for-5, shooting.

"It felt really good," Micah said. "Everyone was just telling me to shoot the ball and I had good opportunities for it. I always think good versus great shots, so I didn't want to force anything, but there was good opportunities and they kept passing me the ball."

Rock Bridge alum Averi Kroenke had herself a game, as well. The true freshman had seven points and eight rebounds against the Mavericks. Pingeton said that she has a high motor and added she never stops talking or moving, which is a good thing.

Guard Lauren Hansen had the team-high in points, once again, on Friday with 15. Fellow guard Sara-Rose Smith finished with her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

"I'm really not consciously thinking of it when while I'm playing, but there's always someone that's like 'two more rebounds and then you got it,'" Smith said. "It's really cool to see that my teammates like want that for me and my coaches want that for me. I think it's just fun."

Up next - Mizzou will have a quick turnaround for a game against Jackson State on Sunday Dec. 11 at Mizzou Arena. Tip off is at 2:00 p.m.
