Mizzou women overcome turnover battle for win against Southeast Missouri State

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team overcame 23 turnovers against the Southeast Missouri State RedHawks to get the 62-50 win on Sunday afternoon.

"We'll take it," head coach Robin Pingeton said after the game. "I don't know what else to say about that."

Pingeton said there are a lot of things that her team needs to clean up before its Monday night game against Western Kentucky. She added she is proud off how the Tiger finished off a not-so-pretty game.

"We found a way to just maintain our poise and finish it the way we needed to in that fourth quarter. Sometimes you just got to find a way to win ugly. Doesn't make you feel any better, but I was proud of our kids for that," she said.

Freshman Ashton Judd provided a scoring spark for the Tigers in the second half. She finished the game 4-6 from the field with 11 points and one rebound.

Senior Hayley Frank led the team with 13 points and nine rebounds against SEMO, however, she also led the group in turnovers with six.

Pingeton said one of the advantages of having such a veteran group is their ability to turn the page quickly.

"You know, it's not my standards, it's their standards and they care. They are very invested. It's a great, phenomenal locker room," she said. "They've been through it before. They're well-aware that, you know, we didn't come out the way we needed to. I trust they'll make the adjustment. We'll be ready to go tomorrow."

Mizzou will tip off against Western Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. at Mizzou Arena on Monday night.
