Two big wins Saturday at Columbia College

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Both the Columbia College men's basketball team and men's soccer team finished their games on Saturday with wins.

Up first, the Cougars hoops team took down in-state foe Missouri Valley 68-63 led by Tony Burks with 19 points, three assists and three steals.

Collin Parker had a double-double down low with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Carson Parker had nine points and seven boards.

The men's hoops team improves to 3-0 and will be back in action Friday against Culver-Stockton in the Fairfield Inn Classic.

Later in the afternoon, the No. 16 ranked Columbia College men's soccer team captured a 3-0 win over Lyon College in the AMC men's soccer championship for their eighth straight victory.

Goals came from James McFarlane, Erik Rajoy and Nick Brandt. Liam Gibbs had two saves in goal.

The Cougars sit at 12-3-3 on the season and will advance to the semifinals on Tuesday.
