Kobe Brown leads Mizzou in opening exhibition

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team opening up the beginning of the Dennis Gates era at Mizzou Arena Thursday with a 89-61 win over Washington University in St. Louis.

The Tigers were led by returner Kobe Brown with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

With 12 different players scoring in the win, Rock Bridge Alum Isiaih Mosley was the only other one to reach double digits with 11 points, three rebounds and four assists.

Besides Brown, Gates' starting lineup for both halves of the exhibition included DeAndre Gholston, D'Moi Hodge, Nick Honor and Noah Carter.

Carter had eight points and three rebounds. Honor had seven points and three assists, and both Gholston and Hodge had nine points.

Mizzou was a dominant presence in the paint with 64 of the 89 points coming from down low.

Up next - Mizzou will have its season opener Monday against Southern Indiana 7 p.m.
