FOX 57

COLUMBIA, SC. (KMIZ)

The Mayor's cup stays in Columbia as the Mizzou Tigers pull off the upset Saturday afternoon 23-10 against No. 25 South Carolina.

The Tigers came out of the gate hot with a 14-0 lead credit to some work on the ground from Brady Cook and Cody Schrader, and the Gamecocks never seemed to recover from that deficit.

Cook finished the day 17-for-26 for 224 yards plus 53 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Dominic Lovett had a huge day with 10 catches for 148 yards.

Blake Baker's defense held South Carolina to just their second lowest scoring game this season.

The defense finished with four total sacks led by Isaiah McGuire with two. They also had three turnovers with forced fumbles from Ennis Rakestraw and Jaylon Carlies and an interception from Dreyden Norwood.

With the win Mizzou is 4-4 on the season and 2-3 in SEC play.

Up next - the Tigers return home to take on No. 19 Kentucky Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.
